Consider each of the following signs. If two or more apply to you… Wake up!
Take a walk out to your shop floor.
Finished parts piling up on a bench waiting for inspection. Here is red flag number 1.
If production accelerates faster than inspection, parts will pile up. Equipment idles while waiting for first article approval. Shipments will be delayed. Your inspectors will be cutting corners just to ship orders.
And rushed checks lead to mistakes.
A simple rule of thumb. If inspection time consistently slows down production time, your process is too cumbersome for your level of operation.
