7 Shipping Software Solutions Reviewed for Small Business Sellers

For small businesses, the process of shipping is the last part of production and the most important. If this fails, then the whole business will fail. To prevent this, the right and effective software must be used.

This blog will provide you with software reviews specifically for small business sellers. Choosee the one that will be the most fit and effective for your business.

What Actually Matters When Comparing Shipping Software

Before ranking anything, it helps to know what’s really worth comparing. Four things separate a shipping tool that fixes your problem from one that just adds a new tab to your browser:

  • Carrier coverage. Some tools quote two carriers. Some quote five. The larger the field, the less likely you’re missing the cheapest option without knowing it.
  • Cost structure. Free-with-no-catch, free-with-per-label-fees, flat subscription, and usage-based pricing all act differently once volume increases.
  • Where your orders already live. A tool that doesn’t connect to your sales channels means manual entry, which defeats the goal.
  • What happens after volume grows. Some tools are made to stay simple. Others are made to grow with you into inventory management, automation, or multi-warehouse routing — at the cost of a steeper setup.

With that in mind, here’s how seven shipping tools really stack up.

Rollo Ship

Rollo Ship is a free shipping software that quotes rates in five carriers — USPS, UPS®, FedEx, Canada Post, and Purolator (FedEx and Purolator through your own account). Rollo Ship is free-to-start shipping software. The account is free to open. First 200 labels free (one-time), then 5¢ each, down to 1¢ via Rollo Rewards. Rollo is not a carrier. The label fee is the only charge from Rollo Ship; postage is paid right to the carrier. FedEx and Purolator show up as connected accounts and not built-in discounts, so pricing tracks your own accounts. Purolator is Canadian-origin only.

Beyond rate comparison and label printing, Rollo Ship includes free inventory management that syncs stock in multiple stores in USD or CAD, with no per-SKU pricing and no different inventory subscription. Orders from storefronts like Shopify, Amazon, eBay, and WooCommerce land in one dashboard, so shippers can compare carriers and print labels.

Rollo Ship is 4.8 on Capterra ★ and used by 500,000+ users in the US and Canada.

Ship your next order with Rollo Ship; it’s free to do, and your first 200 labels are free. End of decision: “Create your first shipment in Rollo Ship and compare carriers side by side before you buy a label.”

ShipStation

ShipStation focuses on orders from a long list of sales channels into one queue, then uses automation rules to route each order to a carrier and service level before anyone touches it by hand. For sellers managing many storefronts at once, that’s a real time saver.

After a 30-day free trial, it moves to a monthly subscription, and the automation rules take setup time before they pay off. Sellers comparing rates in just a couple of carriers may find it more infrastructure than the job calls for.

Pirate Ship

Pirate Ship’s identity is zero markup — sellers pay USPS and UPS rates directly, with no subscription and no per-label fee. Join a store or upload a spreadsheet, buy labels, done.

It’s also small by design: USPS and UPS only, and only from a US origin address. Sellers who need FedEx, or who ship out of Canada, will need a second tool with it.

Shippo

Shippo is made API-first, letting technical teams write shipping logic straight into their own storefront or fulfillment system. A classic dashboard exists too, for sellers who want multi-carrier comparison without touching code.

That API-first design is a strength for a dev team and a useless problem for everyone else. The free Starter plan covers up to 30 labels a month; after that, Shippo moves to a monthly subscription based on label volume.

Ordoro

Ordoro bundles shipping with inventory management, multichannel order sync, kitting, and dropshipping routing — made for sellers who’ve seen shipping and stock levels were never different problems.

The free shipping plan covers up to 100 labels a month on one sales channel; more volume, more channels, and inventory features move to paid plans. Sellers who only need to print labels are paying for power they won’t touch.

Veeqo

Owned by Amazon, Veeqo has free shipping software with multi-carrier rate comparison and tight Amazon Seller Central integration; inventory management sits on paid plans.

The tight Amazon integration is the headline feature — and sellers who don’t sell on Amazon won’t see the same value from it. Multi-carrier comparison exists here, but it isn’t the tool’s main design center.

EasyShip

EasyShip is made around one clear issue: international duties and taxes. Its checkout-level duty calculator and carrier partnership network are made to make cross-border orders less of a customs guessing game.

Domestic-only sellers won’t get much use from the feature that makes EasyShip worth picking in the first place — it’s a tool made for a problem not every seller has.

How These Tools Were Evaluated

Each tool above was checked on the same four rules talked about earlier: how many carriers it really quotes, how its pricing acts as volume grows, how easily orders sync in from existing sales channels, and what kind of seller it’s really made for. A solo operator printing a lot of labels a day looks for something other than a multi-warehouse operation moving thousands of units. None of these tools is the “best”; each is made with a different idea about what your business needs most.

Total Shipping Cost: What You Actually Pay

Compare subscription fee + label fee + postage in the models (subscription vs. per-label vs. free/no-markup). Don’t use made-up dollar numbers, and if you give example rates, they must come from Rollo’s rate tool with a “rates vary by weight and can change” note. Also add this to the Easyship part: “If you’re shipping internationally from the US, Rollo’s guide to the cheapest way to ship from the US to Australia compares carrier methods.

Which Shipping Software Should You Actually Use?

If you only ship USPS and UPS from inside the US and want zero markup past postage, Pirate Ship is hard to argue with. If inventory management — not shipping — is your real problem, Ordoro or Veeqo fix a larger issue than rate comparison. Heavy international volume points toward EasyShip, and a dev team creating custom checkout reasons has good reason to look at Shippo. Sellers handling many storefronts and wanting automation made in May liked ShipStation’s setup cost in exchange for less manual routing.

Outside those exact cases, though, Rollo Ship is the better choice. It mixes US and Canadian carriers with free inventory management and no monthly subscription. You pay postage to the carrier and a small per-label fee after your first 200 labels. For the large number of small sellers who need more carrier options than a single-carrier tool has but don’t have the volume or complexity to have a paid platform, Rollo Ship covers more field for less work than anything else checked here.
