Sam Altman, the boss of OpenAI, says ChatGPT needs new names. After they showed the new model called ChatPGT-4o Mini, he admitted their naming system needs to change.
The new model came out on July 18 and is their cheapest small model.Sam posted on X, the site that was once Twitter.
He said the new model costs 15 cents for a million input tokens and 60 cents for a million output tokens. It has an 82% MMLU score and works fast. He thinks people will like using it.
Many people liked the new model, but one user joked that the names of the ChatGPT models need to change.
The user wrote, “You guys need a naming scheme revamp so bad.” Sam replied, “lol yes we do.”The new GPT-4o Mini is small but powerful. It has low latency, which means it gives answers quickly. It can work with text, pictures, videos, and audio.
It has a context window of 128,000 tokens and can give 16,000 tokens per answer. It knows things up to October 2023.
The new tokenizer also makes it better with non-English text.OpenAI said they tested the new model for safety with both automatic and human checks.
They also had 70 experts from different fields look at it for any problems. This new model is supposed to be very useful and cheap. Many people are excited about it.
Sam knows they need to work on better names, but he is happy with how the new model turned out.
