Apple has kept the front design of the iPhone unchanged since the launch of the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022. However, with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, it is expected that the company will bring some changes.
Famous leaker Digital Chat Station has confirmed previous reports that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will include metalens technology. It allows for a narrower Dynamic Island which has maintained its dimensions since its introduction years ago.
Metalens uses nanostructured materials to control light, unlike the conventional lenses that are found in the top-tier iPhones today. It resulted in a flat and lightweight design that occupies less space.
It is rumored that Apple will implement metalens for the Face ID system. It would effectively reduce the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In addition to this, there are rumors that this metalens technology will also be featured in the front camera of the first foldable iPhone of Apple.
The recent leaks suggest that this innovation may eventually extend to the iPad Pro as well. The long-term vision of Apple includes adding a Face ID system beneath the display, however, according to Digital Chat Station, it might take several generations for it to be accomplished.
Rumors earlier have also indicated that the iPhone 17 Pro will have slimmer bezels. Furthermore, as per reports, Apple is considering a variety of design modifications. These modifications include sloping edges, a camera bar reminiscent of the Pixel, a hybrid aluminum-glass back, and aluminum side rails.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 Air which is a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. It will take the place of the Plus model in the lineup.
The entire series will be provided by A19 chips that are produced using TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, also the iPhone 17 Air may showcase an in-house modem.
