Black Myth: Wukong’s Release Raises Sony’s PS5 Sales

The launch of ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ surged the sales in the Chinese game industry. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation5 console is highly demanded among gamers and stores. 

A Chinese developer Game Science debuted the ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ based on ancient 16th century Chinese mythology and the novel “Journey to the West”. Sony’s PS5 is also available to play on PC through Steam, Epic Games, and Tencent’s WeGame. 

“This is a big win for Sony,” Yan Fang, a third-party gaming hardware merchant in Shanghai, said on Wednesday. “PS5 offers the best option for those who want to try out Wukong, but cannot afford to buy a 40-series Nvidia display card [for their PCs].”

‘Black Myth: Wukong’ has eventually become Steam’s most-played single-player game ever. Furthermore, the video game has sold at least 4.5 million copies within a few hours of launch. In a short span, Wukong got positive reviews and has taken the gaming world to an extra level.

According to Bloomberg’s report, Sony’s PS5 has reached the top of the Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s list for electronic game equipment and doubled its sales within the same period of a year. It is added that ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ was on the top of Alibaba’s Taobao hot search on launch day, illustrating the high level of interest of gamers.

The huge popularity of ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ has raised the demand for Chinese games and built profitable income in gaming consoles. Besides this, As per reports, Game Science and other Chinese developers are expected to continue developing more AAA games.
