After creating a GIF, sticker, and emoji feature, Apple has introduced another exciting feature called Genmoji. You can describe an emotion, activity, or even photos from your device to create a more realistic and customized Genmoji to use during conversations with your friends and family.

However, the feature is now available only with iOS 18 and later versions, because of which many users are unaware of how to use Genmoji and create a new one. To make the task easier for you, we’ve created this guide with simple steps and some amazing tips. So, let’s start together!

Genmoji and the Compatible Devices

Genmoji is a formerly launched feature in Apple devices that allows you to generate custom emojis. You can use facial expressions, characters, or someone’s photo to create unique Genmoji and then send them during chats. These are a standard image format with a square aspect ratio and can be used with regular texting, just like emojis.

However, you can access this exclusive feature only on iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, currently in Beta. The devices that are compatible with the Apple Intelligence feature are equipped with a beta version and hence support Genmoji. They include:

  • All models of iPhone 16
  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
  • iPad Mini with A17 chip
  • Any iPad with an M-series chip

However, you can send a Genmoji to anyone having different iPhone or iPad models or even any other phone. But in such a case, it will be shared as an attachment instead of the standard image format.
