According to Private Internet Access, In 2024 alone, hackers stole over $1.2 billion from cryptocurrency platforms, a figure expected to climb beyond $1.5 billion by year-end.

Their attacking range has gone broader because they are now attacking small supply chains and malware of numerous data infrastructures to retain access over authorities and business entities that are responsible for simplifying human tasks.

Cybercrime is unfolding its new pages using various tactics to strike at vulnerabilities of computer applications that uphold complete information of people using them, including cameras and credentials.

What I’m observing nowadays, is that attackers are keeping their evil eyes on public infrastructures like Hospitals, Banks, Legal teams, and Government organizations to breach their confidential information so that they carry out crimes like data leaking and double extortion.

If you ask me, cybersecurity and AI are becoming the dual-layered wall of protection in every data science field. Cybercrime is a force that cannot be solved using one possible method. It takes lots of trial and error, in which AI integration helps humans to track and defeat thefts with enormous methods and code structures. 

On the other hand, AI is also a major weapon for hackers because they can commit various deepfake and advanced phishing attacks that can terminate the malware and personal identification of various organizations and sell them on the Dark web.

Why Phishing Scams Are Still a Major Threat

Phishing scams have remained one of the most influential tactics of these entities to gather more and more knowledge from civilians and use it for their benefit. 

These scammers will first try to establish your trust by appealing to condemn your needs as per your social handles, and they start to manipulate you so that you can grant your credentials. After they are done with you now, they will block you eventually and use your private information to blackmail you or make the most of it for themselves.

But to get complete protection from these internet infections, I am going to tell you some tips that will help you safeguard your private data and financial credentials in the year 2025:

  • Always keep your software updated on your personal and professional devices.
  • Use highly secure and mysterious passwords, rather than those old numeric and uppercase combos.
  • Keep your Multi-factor authentication enabled on all of your gadgets that contain your private information.  
  • While opening links and email messages, always be cautious and think twice before taking any action. 
  • Try to secure your Wi-Fi connections by using the encryption protocols of  (WPA3 or WPA2) for far greater authentication.
  • Make a habit of backing up your data every once in a while, available in various storage management systems and cloud servers.
  • Always pay attention to your social media postings and never share something very close to your identity on these platforms. 
  • Stay informed about cybersecurity threats by reading articles or videos available on diverse platforms. 
  • You can limit the permission of an app that is suspiciously monitoring your online presence and search demographics.
