OpenAI is jumping into the search game. SearchGPT, a new search engine with ChatGPT’s brains, is launching today as a ‘prototype’ in private access. 

SearchGPT is OpenAI’s take on a search engine, but the company says the best bits of this ‘prototype’ will end up in ChatGPT itself. 

Good news for the upcoming ChatGPT integration in iOS 18.To use SearchGPT, you need to log in to an OpenAI account and then request to join the waitlist. 

SearchGPT will quickly and directly answer your questions with up-to-date info from the web, giving you clear links to sources. 

You can ask follow-up questions, like chatting with a person, and the context will build with each query.SearchGPT runs on OpenAI’s GPT-4 models. 

The interface is clean and clear, especially familiar to ChatGPT users. Like ChatGPT, SearchGPT lets you refine your search queries with follow-ups to get the best info possible.

If you want to use SearchGPT soon, join the waitlist ASAP. OpenAI told The Verge that only 10,000 users will be admitted in the initial launch wave.
