Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Nio has teamed up with the European taxi platform Freenow to electrify taxi fleets in Germany.
This partnership, which started immediately, covers four major cities: Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich.
Under this agreement, taxi companies can now choose between two Nio models: the high-end ET7 sedan and the more affordable ET5.
These companies will benefit from special conditions and advantages provided by both Nio and Freenow.Nio entered the German market in October 2022.
In June, they registered 44 vehicles, an increase from 35 in May but still lower than the 145 registered in June 2023.
The company has also been making similar deals with taxi companies in Sweden and Norway. For instance, a Swedish firm that bought a Nio ET7 can now switch batteries at any power swap station.
Last October, Hayler, who previously led the Norwegian market, took over from Ralph Kranz as Germany’s Country Manager. Kranz joined Nio in mid-2022 to prepare for the market entrance.
Nio has hinted at possible price adjustments due to new tariffs announced by the European Commission but is maintaining its prices for now.
