The long-term relationship between Microsoft and Open AI has finally tangled a little.
This all started when Open AI made its latest move of launching its own AI-powered Search, which parted the ways of these strategic companions.
And, this is probably why in the latest annual report released on Tuesday, Microsoft has added Open AI to its major competitors list along with other tech giants such as Apple, Google, and Meta.
According to the WSJ, the relationship between the two companies was already getting critical. When Microsoft turned to Open AI to help them build an AI system, while also giving financial backing to the smaller companies — All at the expense of 13 billion to build its system.
On the other hand, Satya Nadella has also talked about his likeness of making Sam Altman (CEO of Open AI) the AI research chief at Microsoft. And, instead, Open AI is making deals with its rival Apple, who now have ChatGPT in Macs, even before it came to the Windows system.
However, These altering developments in both companies, are surely going to enhance the overall user experience, while their relationship will still continue but in a toned-down manner.
Microsoft has already developed its core AI system in the form of Azure and Bing with the help of ChatGPT.
On the other hand, Open AI is also moving into the search realm by introducing its latest tool called SearchGPT. However, both companies are now happy to build their own path to success.
In fact, in a recent interview, Nadella said “One of the things I love about Sam is every day he’s calling me and saying, ‘I need more, I need more, I need more”
