Apple Warns Of iPhone Vulnerability: Update To Avoid Hackers

According to Tech Radar, Apple has announced a significant gap in security that could potentially allow an unauthorized person to enter passcodes on locked devices and possibly take info from them. 

Apple has now rolled out an urgent update for this problem on Monday on both iOS and iPadOS. This critical update was meant to address the issue regarding this most recent crack about possibly unlocking devices that have restricted USB mode due to being locked.

Apple advised users to update devices soon to avoid cyber threat

The alert released by the company stated, “Based on a report, Apple is aware that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specifically targeted individuals”.

This alert means that hackers and law enforcers could both potentially use this weakness to have unrestricted access to a device. Apple has now rolled out iOS 18.3.1 and iPadOS 18.3.1 for this issue to address the risks of CVE-2025-24200

The update applies to the iPhone XS and all newer iPhone models, various iPad Pro versions, the iPad Air 3rd generation, and later, the iPad 7th generation and newer, as well as the iPad mini 5th and later generations.

Updates for Macs, Apple Watch, and Vision Pros have also been made available, with no security-related warnings attached to those devices. USB Restricted Mode was reportedly made by ‘GrayKey’ which is a hacking tool leveraged by law enforcement to find out data from mobile devices.

It has drawn criticisms from law enforcement for impeding the unlocking of such devices as might belong to suspected criminals or terrorists. 

Moreover, Apple’s latest feature of artificial intelligence, yes Apple Intelligence is now convenient for several iOS and iPadOS 18.1 users is drawing fire for massive privacy concerns. 

This new feature enables the technology to reach into several applications, including highly sensitive areas of data such as banking and financial information and location information. It raises alerts in the minds of experts regarding risks to personal data security.
