Apple has a new update for all AirPods models. This includes AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. The Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro also receive an update.

When your AirPods are charging and close to a Wi-Fi-connected iPhone, iPad, or Mac, they will automatically update. You cannot update your AirPods by yourself.

To check your AirPods firmware version:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.

2. Go to the “Bluetooth” menu.

3. Find your AirPods in the list.

4. Tap the “i” next to your AirPods.

5. Look at the “Firmware Version” number.

The new firmware versions are:

  • AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C): 6.5.8
  • AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) with MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning): 6.5.8
  • AirPods Pro (first generation): 6A326
  • AirPods (3rd Gen): 6A326
  • AirPods (2nd generation): 6A326.
  • AirPods Max: 6A326.
  • AirPods (1st generation): 6.8.8.

Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro are versions 6F8.

Apple did not specify what this update changed. It likely fixes bugs and makes small improvements. A bigger update will come later this year with iOS 18.
