Apple has announced watchOS 11, the new software for its Apple Watches, during the World Wide Developers Conference on June 10. This update will not be available for all Apple Watches, though.
Three Apple Watches will no longer be supported: the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple Watch Series 5, and the first-generation Apple Watch SE.
The new program offers a ton of interesting features. Vitals is a new app that displays vital signs like heart rate and breathing rate all in one location. You need to wear your watch at night to get these details.
It can translate up to 20 languages from your watch, which is extremely useful for travelers. There is also a Check In feature, which allows you to notify friends and family that you are safe, particularly when walking or running in hazardous areas.
The older watches can’t handle the new software because their processors are not powerful enough. With their initial releases in 2018, the Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and the first-generation SE all have comparable processing power.
These watches will not get any new features, but they will continue to function and get security updates when required.
Watches that will support watchOS 11 include the Apple Watch Series 6 and later, the Apple Watch Ultra and Ultra 2, and the second-generation Apple Watch SE.
The iPhone Xr and later models of iPhones are compatible with these watches, but they must be paired with an iPhone running iOS 18.
