Apple’s AI Roadmap Shifts: LLM Siri Delayed, No WWDC Reveal Expected

|Updated at March 06, 2025

Siri and all other AI applications from Apple have great hopes, but the journey is gradually proving to be more challenging than earlier expected. Tech reports have now stated that the company is set to unleash a slew of new AI features “later this year with the launch of iOS 19,” which will include added features to Apple Intelligence and Siri.

Much to the contrary, it looks like most iOS 19 features have been shifted and are presently not set for shipment. It was previously mentioned that Apple was working on a new version of Siri, which would be a much more advanced conversational system than what exists now.

Apple delays Siri s major AI update

The breakthrough LLM version of Siri was set to land along with the iOS 19.4 update in 2026. In his last Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman mentioned that the firm is falling behind in developing this new Siri experience and the major features for iOS 19.

Gurman also surmises that Apple may not organize the launch of the new, conversational Siri with its budding language model during the WWDC event held in June. It begs the question of whether this will also be included in iOS 19.

It used to be thought that this would launch with iOS 19.4 or 19.5, but new information tells users that it may be saved for iOS 20. Some Apple software engineers think that the renewed Siri could come with iOS 20 in 2026.

Apple is discomforted enough to not keep pace with its competitors such as ChatGPT and the revolutions within the emerging generative AI market. But it does not mean that Siri will not receive any upgrades this year.

Analysts argue Siri will be undergoing some really major backroom improvements that will allow the digital assistant to take on even the most complex questions.
