Google opted for a subtle approach in launching its latest flagship AI model, Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental. Instead of a grand announcement, the company introduced the model through a changelog for its Gemini chatbot application.
This launch marks the arrival of Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental which is the successor to the Gemini 1.5 Pro model released last February. Recently a growing interest in the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has been witnessed.
DeepSeek’s latest models are freely accessible to companies to download. They rival and even surpass many top-tier models from American tech firms and AI developers in performance. This has sparked a significant discussion in Silicon Valley and U.S. government officials.
Google in the changelog has mentioned, “Whether you’re tackling advanced coding challenges, like generating a specific program from scratch, or solving mathematical problems, like developing complex statistical models or quantum algorithms, 2.0 Pro Experimental will help you navigate even the most complex tasks with greater ease and accuracy.”
Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental will be available to the Gemini Advanced users soon as it is now placed as the first model within Google’s Gemini AI lineup. The company claims that it will offer improved factuality and better performance for tasks related to mathematics and coding.
Gemini Advanced is a part of Google’s Google One AI Premium Subscription plan and it can also be accessed through Gemini add-ons by Google for Google Workspace.
Google has indicated that Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental right now is in its early preview phase which means it will show unexpected behaviors and could also make errors. It does not have access to real-time information and lacks compatibility with certain app features.
However, some users on social media have noted that references to Gemini 2.0 Pro Experimental have been removed from the changelog.
