When Samsung created waves by unveiling the first-ever 27-inch 4K gaming OLED monitor on Thursday, a swift response was expected from the manufacturers. Samsung holds the title of the largest supplier of OLED gaming monitor panels.

True to form, MSI jumped into the fray on the same day at CES 2025, launching two monitors boasting impressive specifications. A 27-inch 4K QD-OLED display and another 27-inch QD-OLED model feature an amazingly smooth 500 Hz refresh rate.

Kicking things off is the MPG 272 URX QD-OLED which is a 27-inch 4K marvel that MSI has positioned as a standout in the market. This monitor is the first one to add DisplayPort 2.1a, assuring users an exceptional blend of resolution and frame rates.

It is the same as what Samsung offers (the G81SF), having a 240Hz refresh rate making sure that the visuals are sharp and vibrant at 166 PPI. MSI has claimed that this panel is reducing color fringing, addressing the often lackluster text clarity linked with QD-OLED displays

This monitor could serve as the ultimate all-rounder for gaming, productivity, or any task that is thrown its way. With support for NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology, gamers can expect effortless gameplay without any issues.

The MPG 272URX QD-OLED even received a CES 2025 Innovation Award highlighting its cutting-edge features. The second model, the MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 also supports a catchy name with its aim at mainstream gamers, all because of its more accessible 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.

It also makes use of DisplayPort 2.1 a and matches the offering by Samsung with a fast pixel response time. It has been certified with VESA ClearMR 21000 and promises to eliminate motion blur, which allows the users to fully enjoy its blistering 500Hz refresh rate.

As of now, MSI is yet to reveal pricing or release dates for either of the exciting models.
