Almost the entire iPad of Apple has been updated this year, leaving only the entry-level model untouched since 2022. However, whispers in the tech community suggest that an updated version of the entry-level iPad is on the horizon as it is expected that iPad 11 will make its debut early in 2025.
Anticipation builds for the iPad 11 which is rumoured to be launched in the coming months. According to an anonymous source on X which is known for its reliable leaks, it was disclosed on Monday that Apple is planning to unveil the iPad 11 early next year. It coincides with the public release of iPadOS 18.3 and this new device is expected to come pre-loaded with the latest software.
Developers received the first beta of iPadOS 18.3 last week, which did not include many new features but did include preparations for adding vacuum cleaner robots into the Home app. It is plausible that Apple is secretly boosting iPadOS 18.3 to support the upcoming iPad 11.
Generally, iOS and iPadOS updates with a “.3” designation roll out in late January. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg hinted that the iPad 11 could be introduced in the spring of 2025 which will be starting in March, offering a clear timeline for the expected launch of this new entry-level iPad.
The leaker also confirmed earlier reports that the iPad 11 will include Apple’s first-ever wireless modem allowing both Wi-Fi as well as 5G connectivity.
The source also mentioned that Apple has been developing an iPad using the same A14 chip which is found in the current iPad 10. However, it was also clarified that this iPad was just a prototype for testing the new modem and the final version is expected to have a more powerful chip, potentially the A17 Pro.
