It’s been only three days since the release of The Surging Sparks Pokémon Trading Card Game set, but one card has already become the public’s favorite—the gorgeous Special Illustration Rare version of the Pikachu ex, selling at $488.61 market value.
The Surging Sparks collection of cards was released on November 8 and features Tera Pokémon ex from Scarlet & Violet, which originated from the Alola region.
The Pikachu ex-Special Illustration Rare card with 200 HP does a powerful 300 attack via three different color Energies. It has some powerful abilities that let it withstand being knocked out from full HP in a single hit.
Talking about the art, it’s a lovely piece of work by the artist GIDORA. It’s undeniably stunning, and the tera colors are beautifully painted. Take a look at the set of cards below.
This combination of extreme power and beautiful illustration has made it the most coveted card this year.
However, it is mostly advised to not buy a card in the first two weeks of the set release, as the price always spikes and the users wouldn’t want to spend a whopping $500 for a card.
This all follows a continuous cycle, where people get excited about a card, which increases demand, which raises the price, which further overhypes the rarity, resulting in increased demand, and the cycle follows.
The most expensive card right after the Pikachu one is Latias ex at almost $200, the gold card version of the Pikachu Ex at $100, and that Hydreigon pictured above at about $95, though these prices are expected to come all crashing down the next week.
Users should also prepare themselves for the card set expected to be released in January, which might create a bigger wave than these sets.
