On 21 November 2024, WhatsApp announced the new voice message transcripts feature coming over the weeks.
We usually send and receive voice messages from our loved ones. The voice messages are touchable to hearts because we used to listen voices of family and friends being far away from them. However, there are times and places when we are unable to listen to the voice messages. Traveling on public transport and nearby loud places can apparently disturb our conversation through voice messages.
Fortunately, WhatsApp introduced a feature that displays text what’s in the voice message after downloading the audio. Voice messages can be transcribed into text to keep your conversation smooth and seamless no matter where you belong.
To access the voice message transcripts, go to Settings in WhatsApp. Open the Chats option, then click Voice message transcripts and select your Transcript Language. The feature is enabled by turning the on button and off when you don’t need it. Hence, WhatsApp offers flexibility to experience this built-in transcript option. Besides this, you can simply long press the voice message and tap the transcribe option.
Additionally, WhatsApp said the voice message transcripts feature will globally roll out “over the coming weeks”. Currently, the transcribe option supports limited languages such as English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian. But WhatsApp claimed via blog post that more languages can be added in the coming months.
Interestingly, the latest feature is free for Android and iOS users and available only by updating WhatsApp.
We are excited to experience the voice message transcripts. How do you feel about this next-generation transcribe feature?
