Duolingo’s Fresh New Look: A Bold Redesign That Has Everyone Talking

About what happened to the Duolingo app icon. The owl appears to be sick. This redesign has caused everyone to stir and sparked user concern. What might have appeared to be a new strategy by the marketing team, this apparent fresh approach has caused mixed reactions from the users.

It has been receiving a wave of criticism, mainly because it always appeared as a chirpy bird with a calm and cheerful demeanor.

Duolingo, the popular language learning app, hasn’t quite been in chat for a while. This course of action led the Duo to be in talks since it has changed its icon. This is not the first time it has sparked controversy, the app has a well-known track record for changing its icon occasionally to keep its users engaged.

Users made their way to the platforms, mainly X and Reddit, to talk about the app’s appearance. A lot of them accused the app of stalking and eavesdropping on them, as the overwhelming majority of the users expressed concern about being sick, literally.

One user said: “im rlly tired and my icon is the tired duo one…i wonder if duo is stalking us”. 

Another shared that: “My wife just asked, “how does duolingo know I’m sick” and showed me her icon, so I googled it, which led me here. Odd.”

Not interested in waiting for the icon to disappear? If you are subscribed to Super Duolingo or Duolingo Max, you can replace it with one of those two icons instead. On the other hand, you can replace it with a Streak Society icon. Don’t feel sorry for changing, not everyone wants a sniffy sick owl on their smartphones.
