According to a rumor, Apple plans to upgrade the Air Tag with a better range and improved security features.

Mark Gurman wrote in Bloomberg’s PowerOn letter,

“In May, I reported that Apple is working on a new AirTag — code-named B589 — for release around the middle of next year. That accessory has now progressed in manufacturing tests, and Apple is getting ready to bring it to market.”

Apple introduced its first-ever Air Tag in 2021. It is a real-time tracker integrated with Apple’s ecosystem and Find My network. For three years, Air Tags have not received major updates.

However, Gurman revealed that Apple is aiming to release Air Tag 2 in the middle of 2025.

Additionally, he mentioned that the new version of Air Tag will feature a wireless chip and internal enhancement. A major conflict is connected with Apple Air Tags, stalkers widely use Air Tags to follow victims without their concern.

To deal with this issue, Apple is fostering built-in speakers so that will be difficult to remove. These speakers help proactively detect unaware tracking devices around your surroundings. Moreover, the next-generation Air Tags have increased Bluetooth range, which improves location tracking.

Alongside, the upgraded wireless chip would be expected with the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip that debuted in iPhone 15 models. (MacRumors reported)

Overall, the latest Air Tags 2 will likely have the same designs as the current model. However, expect that Air Tags 2 will look the same with internal software development.

Many analysts unveiled that the coming 2025 will prove a boon for Apple. The company is currently preparing to launch a wide range of products including VR vision and a smart home hub.
