The upcoming iPhone SE 4 Apple may be released sooner than expected as recent reports suggest that a launch could take place at the end of the first quarter of 2025. Insights from Tom O’Malley, a Barclays analyst who recently visited electronic suppliers in Asia, indicate that the iPhone SE 4 is likely to make its debut in March.
This timeline is in alignment with the historical pattern of Apple’s SE lineup as the previous models of the iPhone SE 2 and SE 3 were launched in early March and April hence, it could be expected that SE 4 may also be released in three months approximately.
While the iPhone SE series has traditionally catered to budget-conscious customers, the fourth-generation model might feature some significant hardware enhancements. The iPhone SE 4 is rumoured to adopt the design of the standard iPhone 14 making a considerable departure from the current SE models.
Speculated key features for the SE 4 consist of a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID for enhanced security and a single 48-megapixel rear camera. In addition to this, the device is also anticipated to be powered by an A-series chip and might also include 8GB of RAM. this could improve support for the advanced artificial functionalities of Apple. The major upgrade in the upcoming devices is the addition of an Apple-designed 5G modem. Apple has been working on its own 5G modem since 2018 and aims to reduce its dependency on Qualcomm which is the current supplier of modems for all iPhones. Although Apple has extended its deal of modem supply with Qualcomm which will last till 2026, the company aims to gradually shift towards its proprietary solution. The upcoming iPhone 17 by Apple may also have the new Apple-designed 5G modem as indicated by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
